So, you’ve taken the plunge into the ever-changing world of social media. You are doing well for yourself, and your business, but so far, nothing has really exploded. The reason for this is that you are not the only one out there hitting the socials channels: almost every new company and startup is following the exact same path as you. This poses a challenge which must be met head on if you want to succeed.

Unfortunately, it’s not enough to merely be successful on social media. If your goal is to really boost reach and engagement, you can’t just follow the herd: you must stand out. As a business owner or entrepreneur, you know you need an established an online presence, but it’s what you do with said presence that will really spin the numbers. Obviously, this is all easier said than done, which is why RebekahRadice has curated a list with steps to help you get going:

  • Know your market. If someone asked you, could you quickly and succinctly describe your target market? Take some time to get to know them; understand their needs and the problems you can solve for them.
  • Craft your content. As you begin to identify your exact niche, you’ll find that creating specific content becomes much easier. Once you have crafted your message to be more specific, you have the chance to do much more than communicate. Strive to create content that gets out of the head of your audience and into their hearts.
  • Keep your branding consistent. Your brand is an entity, and it needs a personality of sorts in order to be memorable. If a consumer or customer doesn’t feel like they are talking to a real person, they won’t be interested in returning or engaging. Pick a voice, and then stick with it.
  • Mix it up. Although your brand needs consistency, don’t post the same thing every day. Throw in some quote images, regular quotes, videos, humor, etc. Your company isn’t (or shouldn’t be) one dimensional, and neither is your audience.
  • Follow the 70-30 rule. That is, 70 percent engaging and entertaining content, and 30 percent promotional content. It’s not a hard and fast rule, but it is a good guideline to generate the results you need for success.
