Domino’s is breaking new ground by giving pizza-lovers an inside look at the progress of their order from start to finish, all from the comfort of their couch. Domino’s Live officially launched yesterday afternoon at a Salt Lake City restaurant location, with five webcams set up around the kitchen to capture every moment of your pizza’s creation.

Call this the next step in Domino’s’ effort to connect and interact with customers online, which has proven to be extremely successful for the company, particularly over the past two years. In 2008, Domino’s developed its now patented ‘Pizza Tracker’, an online application that allows customers to follow the progress of their order – live – from placement and preparation to the oven, right to their front door.

The tracker was even updated more recently to include names of staff members who are making and delivering your order, along with simple, one-click options for leaving feedback and sending messages of encouragement to staff. And the best part, particularly for kids, is a customizable progress bar with heavy metal and sports themes, adding to the fun of ordering online. Okay, that feature is pretty cool for adults too.

In addition to the launch of Domino’s Live this week, the company also moved to expand its social media presence by adding a Yelp button directly onto the Domino’s Tracker page to gain more visibility across the web through positive reviews.

Domino’s CMO Russel Weiner commented on the new features: “We at Domino’s have made continued efforts to open our doors and be as welcoming as possible. This is simply the next step, and we are very excited to merge the visual tradition and spirit of the pizzeria with today’s digital capabilities.”
