Apple announced their two new operating system versions yesterday at the annual World-Wide Developer’s Conference, and the two systems, iOS 8 for mobile and OSX for desktop, are looking more similar than ever.

One of the biggest new features is the merging of SMS and phone calling on iOS with OSX.  iChat has allowed iPhone users to message each other from their computers for a while now, but come this fall, iChat users will be able to text any one of their contacts from their laptop or desktop.  On top of that, phone calls from a computer will be a possibility, so if your phone rings in the other room while you’re browsing the web, you can answer it with a click of the mouse.

There will also be the ability to pick up where you left off on separate devices, whether it’s editing a note, writing an email, or creating an document in Numbers.

These are some seriously exciting changes that could drastically change how people use their devices and communicate with each other.
