Although notebooks are losing ground to more digital forms of memo-taking and sketching, Mix steps up to preserve this method, albeit in a digital manner.

Mix has been unveiled by FiftyThree, as a community for sharing what they call “ideas,” which are pages made with the app Paper.  These “ideas” are anything from drawings out of a coloring book, mathematical graphs, digital wireframes, or written notes.

Mix hopes to streamline the way pages are used online, eclipsing the antiquated method of click, right-click, save, open, etc. with just a couple taps.

The social aspect of the app surfaces in hearts that appear at the bottom of a page, with a number indicating how many times something has been “remixed.”

While Mix might need a little more effort to break out of consumer space and into the land of business productivity, it certainly seems like it can pull it off.  Mix is available by invite only right now, but will be available to all Paper for iPad users by the end of October.
