Twitter recently launched a redesign of their website and core mobile apps. The update centers around a few key tabs: the Home, Connect, Discover, Me, and Tweet sections.

“Home is where you view Tweets from the people you have chosen to follow. It’s your personal collection of Tweets, featuring the latest news, commentary and information from the sources you care about.”

Home has been designed to give you the information you want fast. Twitter has now embedded multimedia directly into tweets, meaning you can now view photos and videos straight from your feed. Another nice addition is that Twitter has made the interace of all versions the same, meaning what you see on the web is the same as what you see if viewing from an iPhone or Android.

“Connect is your way to keep the conversation flowing.”

In the connect section you’re able to track interactions. See who’s retweeting your content, who’s following you, and who’s adding you to lists all in one convenient spot.

Discover is about bringing new information to the user. Enter a #hashtag you’ve seen and instantly everything you want to know about it on twitter is displayed. Discover also displays relevant content based on connections, your location and popularity. Discover allows you to browse for new people to follow and also recommends new people to follow based upon interests.

The Me section is all about the user; highlighting bios, locations, websites, blogs or anything else users want to share with the world. This is where you can also send and receive personal messages and where the rest of the Twitter world views your profile.

The new Tweet tab has changed a few things. Users can now “upload photos to Twitter right from your mobile phone or desktop—and link to videos, news stories and more directly in your Tweets.” You can also include your location to add a new perspective and context to your tweets.

The update is slowly rolling out over the next few weeks, but mobile users can experience it now by downloading the latest version of the twitter app for iOS or Android.
